Toshiba has officially announced their first Android powered netbook, or more specifically what they are referring to as a mobile internet device. The model is the AC100 and its expected to come available in August. As of now we are still waiting on pricing details, however we can tell you that it will be available in the UK. And unfortunately for anyone outside the UK,
it seems that will be all, at least initially.Touching back on the device type for a moment, Toshiba is describing the AC100 as a device that “combines smartphone functionality with netbook usability.”
AC100 comes with 1Ghz Nvidia Tegra 250 Mobile processor, 8GB NAND memory,10.1 inch LED screen with resolution of 1024×600 and 512MB DDR2 RAM. The AC100 is basically for people on the move. The 8GB NAND memory is efficient, fast and with plenty of storage space. There is also an SD card slot for additional storage space, transferring data or taking backups. The laptop also comes with Wlan (802.11 b/g/n), 1.3 Megapixel webcam, microphone, software that can customize the desktops along with widgets and full-size keyboard. The AC100 laptop weights 870g and is of the dimension 262mm x 190mm x 14 /21mm. Editing, networking and browsing is made easier with the Ultra slim AC100 with 7 days battery life on a single change.
The laptop also uses the Opera Mobile web browser instead of the default Android
browser. Finally, there will also be an option to add in an integrated 3G module.
